I am a huge fan of Drew Berrymore. I am only two years younger than her and grew up with her in my home. She was not “literally” in my home but I did see her regularly on movies, television shows, and in the magazines on the coffee table. February 22nd was her 43rd birthday and she took to social media to thank her fans for her birthday well wishes. She said something on her video that caught my attention and inspired me. It inspired me so much that I had to share it with you all. This woman’s attitude on aging should be something that all women should aspire to.
Drew has something we should all have when it comes to our feelings on aging: joy.
Joy is not usually the word that woman attribute to getting older but I think it is time that we change that. I have been trying to write a post about joy and aging for the last week and as silly as this may sound, I kept feeling like my words were flat. Don’t get me wrong, I am a joyous person and there is plenty of joy to go around in my life but I just couldn’t translate my feelings to the page on this subject for some reason. I was probably way over thinking it.
She put it so simply; I could not say it better than she did in so few words. So without further ado I will let her say it because we all need to hear it and apply it.
No, we need to do more than simply apply it… as Drew said, “we need to embrace it!”
Thank you Drew Berrymore for being true to yourself and for being an inspiration to me and many others.
